Buying Guide
Electric Scooter Accessories: A Buyer's Checklist
Choose scooter accessories by need, model compatibility, fitting instructions and written costs, rather than assuming a universal item will suit your vehicle.

Electric scooter accessories should be selected for a specific need and checked against the exact vehicle before purchase. Ask for the accessory's identity, compatibility evidence, fitting instructions, itemised cost and return terms. A label saying universal, or a photograph showing a similar scooter, does not establish that an electrical item, mount, cover or lock is suitable for your model.
This is a buyer's checklist from Dynamo EV, not a list of accessories included with every scooter. The objects in the conceptual cover illustration are not a sale bundle or an endorsement of particular products. Confirm availability and suitability with your Dynamo dealer before you pay for anything or arrange installation.
Which problem am I trying to solve?
Write down the everyday need before searching for products. You might need rider protection, a compatible security accessory, a cover for an agreed parking position or a replacement for equipment supplied with the vehicle. Starting with the need makes it easier to decline an attractive item that has no clear role in your routine.
Separate rider equipment from parts fitted to the scooter. A helmet requires an individual fit check; an installed accessory requires model compatibility and fitting instructions. Neither decision should be made solely because a retailer offers both products on the same page. Keep your shortlist small enough that you can obtain a clear answer for every item.
What should I ask the seller to identify?
Get the full product name, manufacturer and any part number, together with the vehicle variants the supplier says it fits. Ask whether that statement comes from the vehicle manufacturer, the accessory maker or only the retailer. If a required detail is absent, mark it as unanswered rather than accepting a verbal assurance that it should be fine.
| Accessory category | Confirmation to request |
|---|---|
| Rider helmet or gloves | Correct personal fit, product identity and relevant verification |
| Lock | Compatibility and operating instructions for the actual vehicle |
| Protective cover | Correct fit and the vehicle's storage or covering instructions |
| Mount, carrier or luggage | Written approval for the model and the specified fitting method |
| Electrical equipment | Manufacturer-confirmed compatibility and authorised installation guidance |
| Replacement charger | Exact approved replacement for the vehicle and battery option |
This table is a question list, not permission to install any category. A product can be well made and still be unsuitable for a particular vehicle or use.
How can I check a helmet's claimed certification?
Ask the retailer to identify the helmet manufacturer, model and the markings supplied with the product. The Bureau of Indian Standards describes its BIS Care app, including a licence-verification feature for products carrying the standard mark. Use the official verification route rather than treating an online product photograph as proof.
The Government of India's helmet consumer advisory encourages BIS-certified helmets and explains the availability of licence checks. This guide does not assess a particular helmet or claim that any pictured item is certified. Have a knowledgeable retailer help with fit and the manufacturer's wearing instructions, and retain the purchase record. Verification of a marking does not replace an individual fit assessment.
Why do replacement chargers need a separate check?
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's charger advisory warns that a connector fitting does not prove compatibility. It advises using the supplied charger or a replacement tested and approved for the device, with confirmation from the manufacturer where needed. This is general safety guidance, not certification of a Dynamo vehicle or an accessory sold by a third party.
For a replacement, give authorised support the vehicle and battery details through its private channel and request the correct replacement identity in writing. Do not connect an unfamiliar charger as a trial, modify a connector or use another owner's charger merely because the plug appears to fit. Keep the supplied equipment and its instructions identifiable. Our home-charging checklist covers the separate question of the charging location and supply.
What needs confirmation before anything is fitted?
Ask who will install the item and which written instructions they will follow. Find out whether fitting involves drilling, wiring changes, removal of an original part or any other modification. If the installer cannot explain the approved method for your model, pause the purchase and ask the vehicle manufacturer. Do not use this guide as a fitting or wiring procedure.
Request clarification on the effect of a proposed accessory or modification under the actual warranty terms. Do not accept either a blanket promise that every accessory preserves cover or a blanket claim that all accessories cancel it. The warranty questions guide helps you collect the relevant documents. Keep the accessory and installation records with those documents, rather than relying on a conversation you may not be able to retrieve later.
How should I compare the written quotations?
Compare the same identified item and the same work, not just the total at the bottom. Ask the seller to separate the accessory, fitting, required additional parts and any delivery charge. Request the applicable return and cancellation terms, including what happens if the item cannot be fitted as promised. No amount or discount is assumed in this guide.
If you are comparing two proposals, put the product identities beside each other. A lower total may describe a different item, no fitting or a different return arrangement. Leave a question mark beside anything the seller has not confirmed. Ask for an updated quotation when the scope changes, and keep the final version that matches your approval.
What should I check at collection?
Match the supplied item to the quotation and invoice. Ask for a demonstration of normal operation and removal where appropriate, and for the instructions and any separate warranty supplied by the accessory maker. Have the installer explain the permitted use and any checks required after fitting. Raise an unexplained difference before accepting the work.
For a lock, follow its instructions and establish a reminder to remove it before moving the scooter. For a cover or another storage item, confirm how it fits the vehicle's care guidance and your permitted parking space. The apartment-parking checklist helps you keep accessory use separate from building permissions. A seller's recommendation does not give permission to modify common property.
A compact accessory enquiry
I need an accessory for [purpose] on [model and variant]. Please identify the exact product and the source confirming compatibility. Please separate the item and fitting charges, explain the fitting method, provide the instructions and confirm the return terms if it is unsuitable. Please also clarify any warranty implications before installation.
Send this before making a payment, then keep the response with the order. If you do not yet know the model, start with the Dynamo catalogue and your vehicle shortlist rather than buying fitted accessories in advance.
Common accessory questions
Does universal mean that an item is approved for my scooter?
No. Ask for compatibility with the exact model and configuration. Electrical equipment in particular needs manufacturer confirmation, not a trial connection.
Are accessories shown on a blog cover included with the vehicle?
No bundle is promised by this article or its illustration. The written quotation and order must identify any included or separately charged items.
Can I assume another variant uses the same fittings?
No. Ask the supplier to confirm the actual variant and approved fitting method before purchase.
For an unanswered compatibility question, contact Dynamo support. A clear product identity and a written response are more useful than a collection of generic accessory recommendations.
